How does placenta encapsulation contain so many benefits?

Your placenta is jam packed with nutrients, vitamins, and hormones that work with your body to recover from childbirth. Recovery is just not physical, but also emotional. FAQ

What are the benefits of encapsulation?

Placenta capsules have been reported to help stabilize hormones, increase breastmilk production, support mental health, provide calming or energetic effects, and lend in pain relief. Placenta capsules can also replenish iron levels, help the uterus shrink, and improve your mood.

How do I enroll in services?

You can setup a free consultation by clicking the button below and ask about availability for your due date!

What is the process of encapsulation?

There are two methods of encapsulation: raw and steamed. Your placenta will be picked up and encapsulation will be started within 48 hours. The placenta is cleaned, steamed (or skipped for raw), and prepared for dehydration. The placenta is dehydrated for 12-16 hours, crushed, and encapsulated. The entire process takes roughly 1 full day.

How do I get my placenta to you?

After your baby is delivered, give me a call to schedule your placenta pickup between the hours of 9am-9pm.

What do I need to take with me to my birthing location for the encapsulation process?

A cooler to properly store the placenta until pick-up between 9a-9p. I will bring a cooler with me and transfer it, so I will not keep your cooler. Ask your care providers to double bag your placenta to prevent leaking in your cooler.

For home births: place your placenta in a gallon sized Ziploc bag and then double bag it. You can store the placenta in the refrigerator until I arrive for pick up.

What areas do you serve for placenta encapsulation?

I serve all areas within one hour from Steubenville, Ohio.

How do I receive my placenta pills back, and how do I take the capsules?

Your finished capsules will be delivered to you within 5-7 days of birth. Capsules will be hand delivered. Detailed instructions on how to take and store the capsules can be found in the bag with the jar of capsules.

How should I store my placenta capsules?

Capsules should be kept in a dry, cool dark place. Placenta capsules should not be refrigerated. After 6 weeks, it is recommended to freeze any remaining capsules to preserve their freshness and strength (capsules should be placed in a Ziploc bag and double bagged before placing in the freezer).

What if I have trouble getting my placenta released from the hospital? My doctor does not recommend encapsulation or know anything about it?

All hospitals have policies that allow moms to take her healthy placenta home with her. Some hospitals may be more placenta friendly than others. If a hospital says your placenta needs to be taken to pathology for testing, you can deny any testing and continue to ask for the release of your placenta. You should talk to your care providers before delivery that you plan on taking your placenta home and write it in your birth plan.

In case your placenta is not released, there is a refund policy in the placenta encapsulation agreement.
